Father left stunned as he claims he has been banned from almost every venue in Western Australia for 12 months – and he doesn’t know why: ‘I’m frustrated’

A comedian has lashed out claiming that he has no idea why he has been barred from almost every venue in Western Australia for 12 months.

Jasky Singh said he was put on the one-year statewide ban following an ‘incident’ at Kalgoorlie’s The Gold Bar, in the state’s Goldfields–Esperance region in November. It applies to all venues that use ScanTek devices to check the ID of patrons.

Mr Singh, who is part of a duo well known on TikTok for ‘bold street-style interviews’ with people he stops in public, said he was trying to get into the pub after conducting a series of vox pops near the venue.

‘We thought we’d walk into the line, they’re obviously not going to let us film inside, but thought it’d make a funny ending to the video,’ Mr Singh told the Daily Mail.

However, as he claimed in a now-viral video posted to his social media, Mr Singh was denied entry after providing his ID. He said he asked the security guard why, but received no answer.

It was only five months later that Mr Singh realised he’d been put on a statewide ‘ban’ when he tried to enter another venue for a friend’s event.

‘I showed my ID and the (woman on the door) looked so surprised that I was even trying to get in. She said I wasn’t allowed in any ScanTek venues until November 2026,’ Mr Singh said.

‘When she said I was banned, I was like, ”I don’t ever go out?”

The comedian said he asked the woman what had been alleged against him.

‘The moment she mentioned the venue that had put the ban on was The Gold Bar, then it clicked what had happened,’ he said.

‘I’m just frustrated that one person decides to have whatever moment he has, and puts me on a statewide ban for 12 months.

‘I hadn’t even gone into the venue… I was incredibly shocked.’

Mr Singh contacted the independent security firm contracted to the pub to question the reason for the ban, and claims he was told he had harassed security, among other allegations.

‘I asked if they could explain what any of these allegations are so I can know what they were talking about,’ he said.

‘I was trying to understand any reasoning and they just hung up the phone.’

While Mr Singh said the ban doesn’t really impact his personal life, as he doesn’t like to party, he said it will affect some aspects of his content creation work.

‘Give me the reasoning and if I have done something wrong, that’s okay. I understand there’s repercussions for being an idiot,’ he said.

He questioned why he wasn’t given the chance to appeal or argue against the ban.

‘One person’s opinion of whatever took place should not allow them to have that sort of power over someone whose life it may affect. It feels incredibly unfair and disheartening that someone would do that.’

Mr Singh’s viral video explaining the incident has now racked up over 1.4million views, with many of his followers describing the situation as ‘wild’ and taking to the pub’s Google Reviews page to criticise the venue.

‘These shared security systems are very Palantir-esque,’ one commented, referring to the controversial US-based surveillance company.

‘There’s this new tech-driven private policing emerging. Glad to see you stand your ground.’

Another said: ‘This happened to me as well, banned from all venues that use Scantek for six months.’

A person added: ‘I once complained about one seccy (security guard)… They just banned me for six months.’

However, others called on him to provide the ‘other side of the story’, to which Mr Singh replied, ‘Ask them. I can’t find out.’

When asked about the incident, The Gold Bar refused to comment or provide any contact details for the Daily Mail to direct further enquiries to.

The security firm contracted by the pub also refused to provide any comment in regard to Mr Singh’s claims.

‘When you’ve decided not to let someone in, and the person says, ”Hey, any reason?” I think at least, as a professional, provide one,’ Mr Singh said.

‘It’s very unpleasant behaviour and I think you’ve got to at least respond to people like humans.’

Daily Mail has also contacted ScanTek for comment.
