Iran-US war latest: Tehran targets vessels in Strait of Hormuz after Trump’s seventh night of strikes on Iran
Iran says it has launched fresh operations targeting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday after a seventh consecutive night of US airstrike.
Tehran claimed its forces stopped four vessels in the Strait, while Iranian state media reported that two oil tankers caught fire and exploded after passing through what it described as a mined route. The US military rejected that account as false.
The conflict continued to spill out across the region, with Iran claiming it struck US military assets in Bahrain, including aircraft hangars and fuel tanks at the Sheikh Isa Air Base.
Kuwait said an Iranian attack damaged a power generation and water desalination station, while Saudi Arabia and Bahrain issued public alerts warning residents of potential threats. Jordan said it intercepted missiles and drones crossing its airspace because they posed a danger to populated areas.
Earlier, defence secretary Pete Hegseth shared images purporting to show the destruction of a surveillance tower at Iran’s Chabahar port on the Gulf of Oman following US strikes.
