Days later, the NFL bigwig secured a plea deal that ultimately saw a prostitution charge dropped – allowing him to plead no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing a criminal tool.

‘That’s been resolved,’ the elder York, 77, told the Daily Mail this week after being approached at the headquarters of the family’s DeBartolo Corporation in Youngstown, Ohio.

Jed’s mom, Denise DeBartolo, 75, also ducked just moments later when she stopped by the offices.

Their 46-year-old son, meanwhile, remained out of sight with the windows to his house just around the corner shuttered.

An armed security guard parked in the driveway, who was hired from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, shooed visitors away.

But in a community that reveres the billionaire family behind one of the greatest franchises in NFL history, the scandalous episode remains an epic subject.

As Jed York and his family hunkered down in Youngstown, a half mile away, locals at a shopping mall built by the DeBartolo family scratched their heads and mocked the DeBartolo scion.

At the center of the mockery is not just the allegations he tried to nab a prostitute – but also the circumstances that led to his bust.

York had allegedly responded to an online advertisement, rented a car and drove to Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community last Sunday morning to meet up with a $140-an-hour ‘prostitute’ who turned out to be an undercover detective, according to a police report.

He was arrested at the trailer park in East Palestine, which was the site of the disastrous 2023 freight train derailment, roughly 15 miles away from Youngstown.

‘What is it with East Palestine?’ 72-year-old Diane quipped as she sipped tea with elderly friends at the Southern Park Mall. ‘First we had the train wreck, and now this.’

‘He’s male – what else do you need to know?’ she continued.

But as Diane and her circle of friends’ laughter echoed through the food court, she dialed it back a bit given her respect for York’s family.

‘I will say for that family – they’ve done a lot of good. Everything you see here.’

The family is so revered and influential around town that nobody inside would allow their last names to be used for this article. Several had gone to high school locally with members of the DeBartolo family.

But given the relative anonymity, residents didn’t bite their tongues.

‘Guess he thought nobody would recognize him,’ said 32-year-old Sue, who was eating a sandwich with her boyfriend John.

‘I saw it on TikTok,’ John explained. ‘It’s on brand for the area, not the person. So nasty. They should just fire him.’

Sandra, 70, and her boyfriend Jim, 77, seemed equally unforgiving.

’The fact he’s getting divorced is not an excuse,’ Sandra told the Daily Mail. ‘He should know better. He’s got to be more careful.’

‘He comes from a good family,’ she continued. ‘It’s shameful that he’s bringing disgrace to his family including himself.’

’This is his grandpa right here!’ she exclaimed, pointing to a portrait on the wall of Edward J. DeBartolo Sr.

At another table of a dozen senior citizens, Glyn, 77, decried, ’It’s a shame.’

‘He’s rich and can afford whatever he wants,’ she said. ‘He doesn’t have anything better to do?’

Her friend Bonnie, 80, sniped at York’s plea deal in the wake of the sting.
