Lane Kiffin has to be escorted off the field by police as rival Kentucky fans invade field

Following an upset win on their home turf, Kentucky fans rushed the field to celebrate the win over the most hated man in the SEC.
The Wildcats likely earned themselves a spot in this week’s top-25 poll with a stunning 35-34 overtime victory over No. 10 LSU on Saturday.
Kentucky forced the extra period with a late field goal in the fourth quarter. After LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt scampered for a touchdown, the Wildcats managed to score one of their own in response.
Then, on the ensuing two-point conversion, Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey scrambled to the end zone to cap off the win.
Fans instantly stormed Kroger Field in Lexington, not only to celebrate with their heroes but to also rub it in the face of LSU coach Lane Kiffin.
As revelers flooded onto the turf, fans found Kiffin surrounded by Louisiana state troopers, a common security procedure for coaches.

But fans followed behind him, recording themselves giving the coach the middle finger and shouting taunts his way.
As Kiffin exited the field, fans in the stands were also seen shouting at the coach.
The anger most likely comes from the general animosity surrounding Kiffin’s exit from the post at the University of Mississippi for LSU in the offseason.
The coach also attempted to bring players who signed NFL contracts onto his roster in a highly controversial move.
Kentucky fans also have the added ammunition of Kiffin being the former head coach of their biggest rivals, Tennessee.
The Wildcats became the first team in FBS history to win back-to-back overtime games by a single point. Last week, they beat South Carolina – coincidentally, also by a score of 35-34 in OT.
Kentucky will likely be ordered to pay a fine to the SEC of $500,000 for storming the field, an updated price for this season.
But they’ll do so ahead of their first top-25 ranking since 2023. The Wildcats will look to improve their ranking next week when they travel to Norman to face Oklahoma.
