Man Utd vs Ipswich LIVE: Score and latest updeates from Premier League clash at Old Trafford

Is defeat on the cards?

Manchester United lost 2-0 to Hull last week.

Only in 1992-93 and 2022-23 have they lost their opening two Premier League matches in a season.

In their league history, the only time they’ve lost their first two without scoring was in 1933-34.

Michael Carrick on recalling Marcus Rashford and making changes vs Ipswich

“Very pleased, since we met up for the final World Cup players in Dublin, he’s come back in great, trained well, looking forward to today, delighted to have him in the team,” Carrick tells Sky Sports on Marcus Rashford.

“It’s a good squad, we can kind of change things, combine things, getting everyone back on the pitch, strong team to start and we’ll need a strong team to finish.

“We expect a tough game, that’s obvious to say, fantastic result last week, we looked at that and know what challenge faces us. We want to play well, we’ll look forward to it.”

Man Utd vs newly promoted teams

After facing Hull last week and Ipswich here, Manchester United are the first team to face promoted sides in both of their opening two games of a Premier League season since Bournemouth in 2019-20 (Sheffield United, Aston Villa).

It’s the third time the Red Devils have done so in the top-flight, along with 2001-02 (Fulham, Blackburn Rovers) and 2009-10 (Birmingham City, Burnley).

They lost to Hull but can they defeat Ipswich today?

A sign of things to come?

Manchester United haven’t lost any of their last 400 home league games when leading at half-time.

But, the last team to beat them were Ipswich Town in May 1984.

A sign of things to come perhaps?

‘The most intriguing inclusion is Rashford’

Michael Carrick reacts to Manchester United’s deserved defeat at Hull by making four changes.

“Andrey Santos is dropped after one game with Kobbie Mainoo returning in midfield. No shock that Lisandro Martinez is in for Ayden Heaven at the back, while Diogo Dalot returns in place of Noussair Mazraoui.

“Perhaps the most intriguing selection is Marcus Rashford, starting for the first time for United since December 2024.”
