Need last-minute Halloween inspo? These are the 47 most iconic celebrity costumes of the past five years

Spooky season is creeping up on us, so we’ve dug through the archives of celebrity costumes that have stayed with us over the years. Some were sweet, while others had us shaking- either in fear or laughter. A few celebrities managed to pull it out of the bag every year. Here’s our list! 

1. Paris Hilton as Britney Spears in Oops!…I Did It Again in 2025

Paris Hilton took us right back to the 2000s with this iconic look from Britney Spears’ Oops!…I Did It Again music video. Who did it better? I’ll let you decide.

2. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker as Jack and Sally in 2025

The Kardashians are known for their elaborate and creative costumes, and Kourtney and Travis’s Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas is no exception. The couple were even filmed dancing to Rockwell’s Somebody’s Watching Me from a vintage Chevy Impala convertible. As Kourtney wrote in her Instagram caption: ‘the romance’!

3. Justin and Hailey Bieber as the Incredibles in 2025

These matching Incredibles outfits could not be more adorable, with Bieber’s son Jack fittingly taking on the role of superhero baby Jack-Jack Parr. 

4. Keke Palmer as Snoop Dogg in 2025

Keke went viral when she not only dressed up as Snoop Dogg but also lip synched his song Bow Wow (That’s My Name) on Instagram. She even recruited her two-year-old Leodis, looking suave in a dark-wash denim jacket, a white T-shirt and sunglasses, to be her hype man.

5. Flo Milli as Daphne from Scooby Doo in 2025

The American rapper took inspiration from her lyrics in Beef FloMix (“I’m the big dawg, my nickname is Scooby!”) for this colourful look. Adorably, her son, Sixx, born April 2025, joined her as a mini Scooby- Doo.

6. Dean Johnsen as Karl Lagerfeld and Judy Greer as Dame Anna Wintour in 2025

The Archer actress and her producer husband got dressed up as fashion giants Dame Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld for the Blumhouse And Atomic Monster’s 2025 Dead Carpet Halloween Party last year.

7. Macaulay Culkin as a toilet in 2025

You know what, you can’t fault the commitment. Culkin claims it wasn’t his idea: “If your kids want you to be a toilet,” he wrote on Instagram, “be THE BEST dang toilet you can be.”

8. Ed Sheeran as Pennywise in 2025

This is one of the scariest celeb transformations we’ve seen. Ed Sheeran looks unrecognisable- apart from the same ginger hair!

9. Kerry Washington as Django in 2025

The American actress reminisced on her time working on Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed Django Unchained, only this time she’s taking the titular role! It’s a bold twist and Washington certainly pulls it off.

10. Lady Gaga as the Garden of Eden and the gardener in 2025

Gaga, who nicknamed herself “Mother Monster”, is known for her bold outfits on stage even outside of Halloween. This time she looked beautiful and macabre dressed as the song “Garden of Eden” from her album Mayhem (2025).

11. Mindy Kaling as Timothee Chalamet at a Knicks game in 2025

Mindy Kaling channelled her inner New York Knicks superfan Timothee Chalamet after his animated courtside reactions went viral online. This tongue-in-cheek reference was topped off by the fake mustache- come to think of it, have we ever seen the two of them in the same room…

12. Shay Mitchell and family as Lilo and Stitch in 2025

The Pretty Little Liars actress let her two young kids steal the show as the whole family posed together, with fans commenting “this is the cutest thing in the world” and “you win Halloween”.

13. Uzo Aduba as Wizard of Oz in 2025

Uzo Aduba, known for Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and The Residence, went all out with her husband as the scarecrow and tinman from the Wizard of Oz.

14. Demi Lovato as ‘Poot’ Lovato in 2025

Demi Lovato embraced the ridiculous internet conspiracy that she has an alter ego named “Poot” Lovato- and dressed up as her for Halloween! Fans were in stitches as her combover and lighting lived up to the infamous photo.

15. Lupita Nyong’o as Marvel’s Storm in 2024

Lupita Nyong’o brought the popular comic book hero Storm to life with a striking blonde wig, white contacts and white nails. This sneak peek got fans talking, with many nominating her to play the mutant superhero in the X-Men franchise. It hasn’t happened yet, but never say never.

16. Alec Baldwin, his wife Hilaria and their kids as Where’s Waldo in 2024

Many parents will understand the struggle of finding matching outfits in different sizes, so this Halloween effort is admirable. Honestly, it’s just impressive they all managed to get in one photo!

17. Sophie Turner as Trinity from The Matrix in 2024

The Game of Thrones star looked more badass than ever in skintight black leather, dark sunglasses and two guns straight out of The Matrix franchise.

18. Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco as Alice and the Mad Hatter in 2024

Gomez and Benny Blanco paid homage to Disney’s 1951 animated version of Alice in Wonderland with a home photoshoot as Gomez rocked her tulle Rodarte Fall 2022 dress.

21. Ashley Tisdale and family as Wicked in 2024 

Ashley Tisdale, her husband and young daughters looked adorable dressed as characters from the iconic musical. Her eldest daughter’s dreams came true a few months later when she was given backstage access to Broadway’s Wicked in New York!

22. Renee Rapp and Cara Delevingne as Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore on their way to Charlie’s Angels premiere in 2024

Keke Palmer is known for going all out on Halloween, and her photoshoot as Frankenstein’s monster with her son reversing the traditional role as Frankenstein might just take the cake!

The Rock is immediately recognisable with his broad stature and impressive muscles, but that wig made us do a double take!

27. Mariah Carey as Jessica Rabbit in 2023

Mariah Carey looked stylish as Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and also hinted the start of the Christmas season with the playful caption ‘#notyet’, which is a running joke among her fans who want to play her timeless Christmas hit.

I don’t think you’ll see many of these costumes this Halloween! Florence Pugh donned a fake goatee, spikey hair and trademark glasses to emulate the Food Network star Guy Fieri, while Zoe Lister-Jones joined her as a rooster. Pugh may have taken inspiration from her hair growth journey after she buzzed it for the romantic drama We Live in Time. She wrote on her Instagram story in August 2023: ‘Sometimes when I get out of the shower I look like Guy Fieri and I love it.”

Janelle Monet has always been someone to watch on Halloween, much like Heidi Klum. In 2020 she became a giant fly, and in 2022 she turned heads as an alien from The Fifth Element. This hyper-realistic chameleon costume is another amazing transformation which was put together by a whole team of makeup artists and costume designers.

30. Jojo Siwa as Draco Malfoy in 2022

Jojo Siwa slicked back her platinum blonde hair and reenacted Draco’s iconic introductory line from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Instagram for Halloween 2022. 

31. Sarah Michelle Gellar as a student in Do Revenge in 2022

Scream queen Sarah Michelle Gellar dressed as a Rosehill Country Day High School student from the teen comedy Do Revenge (2022), starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke.

32. Heidi Klum as a worm in 2022

Heidi Klum went viral on social media in 2022 when the model dressed as a worm for her annual Halloween party. Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, was dressed as the fisherman who hooked her. Heidi even did an interview while lying on the floor.

33. Vanessa Hudgens and her friend as Black Swan in 2022

Vanessa Hudgens and her best friend GG MaGree pulled off the iconic White Swan Queen and evil black swan from Natalie Portman’s psychological thriller Black Swan  (2010).

34. Kerry Washington as Lionel Richie in 2022

The American actress dressed up as Lionel Richie on his 1982 debut eponymous album, and she later revealed the “All Night Long” singer was her first ever celebrity crush.

35. Kylie Jenner as Bride of Frankenstein in 2022

Kylie Jenner went above and beyond with an extravagant photoshoot for her Bride of Frankenstein look, topped with a custom Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown by Glenn Martens and matching fabric-covered heels and white gloves.

The Disney Channel star dressed up as another famous former child actress with whom she happens to share a last name. Despite bearing a striking resemblance, the two are not related.

The middle Jonas brother went as fictional insurance salesperson Flo, played by comedian Stephanie Courtney, and posted videos of Flo living it up in the club!

Shakira wore blue contacts and the iconic Wonder Woman suit to dress up as what was once her ‘very first costume’, as she told her fans on Instagram.

39. Lili Reinhart, Madelaine Petsch and Camila Mendes as Hocus Pocus in 2022

The Riverdale actresses took inspiration from another spooky trio and dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters from the 1993 film Hocus Pocus, perfectly suited to their different hair colours.

Lizzo was spot on with her Marge Simpson costume, painting her entire body yellow and wearing a towering blue wig, with a green sequined dress, beaded necklace and red heels.

The rapper was a sultry Addams matriarch in a sheer black metal dress with a custom-made corset by designer Natalia Fedner.

42. Reese Witherspoon as Tippi Hedren in The Birds in 2021

Reese Witherspoon got fully in character as Melanie Daniels in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic horror film The Birds (1963).

Harry Styles wowed fans as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz during his Halloween-themed concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. He said to the crowd: ‘Growing up in England, we like Halloween. But we definitely didn’t get into it like you do.” He added, “I look cute!”

46. Jamie Lee Curtis as Marion Crane in Psycho in 2021

For the premiere of Halloween Kills (2021), Jamie Lee Curtis dressed up as Marion Crane in honor of her mother Janet Leigh, who starred in the original Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock.

47. Kendall Jenner as the Martian Girl from Mars Attacks! in 2021

In a massive blonde wig and skintight red patterned catsuit, Kendall Jenner looked flung out of space as an alien from Tim Burton’s ’90s cult classic Mars Attacks! Her Instagram caption was a line from the film: ‘Nice planet, we’ll take it.’
