NFL announces mouthwatering first Sunday Night Football of the 2026 season… with full schedule to be released this week
The New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys in the first Sunday Night Football of the 2026 NFL season.
The schedule for next season is due to be announced in full on Thursday but, as always, some of the high-profile matchups will be revealed in the days before.
And the first is John Harbaugh’s first-ever game in charge of the Giants against their NFC East rival Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on September 13.
The game, which will be broadcast by NBC, will be the eighth time in the last 15 seasons the Giants and Cowboys have meet in Week One.
The NFL has already announced that the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams will meet in Melbourne, Australia in Week 1.
The game will be aired in prime time in the United States at 8:35pm ET/5:35pm PT on September 10.

The Seattle Seahawks will begin defense of their Super Bowl title in the kickoff game on September 9, however their opponent has not been announced.
The NFL could opt for an immediate Super Bowl 60 rematch since New England is scheduled to visit Seattle at some point in the season.
Last season, the Super Bowl 59 rematch between Philadelphia and Kansas City took place in Week 2.
Other likely possibilities for the Seahawks include the Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals or the Los Angeles Chargers.
The game between the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys in Rio de Janeiro will take place in Week 3 on September 27.
The other seven international matchups will be announced on Wednesday at 9am ET on ‘Good Morning Football’ on NFL Network.
