Singleton trio on track to maintain winning form at Grafton

A steady stream of recent winners for Scone trainer Scott Singleton has the horseman primed to continue the form when the five-meeting Grafton July carnival kicks off on Sunday.
Singleton enjoyed success at Tamworth on Friday when Oakfield Utah saluted, and he will send three live chances to Grafton with Mikayla Weir set to partner the trio.
Form galloper Copperline will shoot for three wins in a row since resuming when contesting the Maclean Hotel Country Boosted Belflyer Prelude Class 3 Handicap (1115m) and Singleton is confident of another forward showing.
“He’s done the job well to win at both his starts back from a spell at Scone,” said Singleton.
“He has good speed and puts himself in the race from the outset and he’s been strong to the line in the two Scone wins.
“He has a bit of an awkward draw on Sunday, but he should be able to overcome that.”
Singleton has another last-start winner in the shape of Spenzalot running in the CJM Lawyers Grafton Cup Prelude (2230m).
Spenzalot was third-up from a spell when stepping up in distance to score at Tamworth when last produced, and Singleton believes he can figure prominently again.
“He was strong to the line in the Tamworth win, and he is still on the up,” Singleton said.
“The horse that he beat [Bellini Spritz] has since come out and won so the form looks good.”
Singleton and Weir will round out the Grafton meeting with yet another last-start winner when Haras contests the Country Mud Here On South Cup Sunday Class 1 Handicap (1215m).
Weir was aboard Haras when it broke its maiden with a strong Tamworth victory when third-up from a spell, with the filly having finished seventh at Scone when resuming and second at Moree when second-up.
“She’s a progressive filly that has shown ability from her first start when she finished third at Scone,” said Singleton.
“She went forward and came away for a good win at Tamworth at her latest start. There’s no reason she can’t run very well again and she should be in the finish.”
