Sinister new details reveal how the family of teenage girl gunned down in boxing night drive-by shooting was previously targeted in a mystery attack at their home

The family of a teenager fighting for her life after a drive-by shooting at a boxing event had previously been targeted in an earlier late night attack at their home.
Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, 19, remains in a critical condition after being shot in the face outside Fitzy’s in Loganholme, south of Brisbane, on Saturday night.
Four people were gunned down when two men wearing balaclavas and gloves opened fire from a silver Mitsubishi ASX at the Logan City Titles boxing event.
A crowd had gathered near the entrance to the venue where more than 100 spectators, including families with young children, were attending at the time.
The car was later found burnt out at Waterford West. Police believe the offenders then fled in another vehicle and that at least three people were involved.
The Daily Mail can now reveal Ms Schuster-Togiatau’s family was targeted last year when a mystery intruder used a knife to slash the tyres of three of their cars.
Her sister Kayla Togiatau appealed to neighbours for help after discovering the attacker had deliberately vandalised vehicles parked out of view of the family’s security cameras.

‘Hey Jimboomba people, I wanted to ask the community for some help or insight on an incident that occurred late night or early hours of the morning,’ Ms Togiatau wrote in a neighbourhood Facebook group in April 2025.
‘This morning at 5am we noticed three of our cars each had two of their tyres slashed, six in total.
‘We have no idea what time this happened as they were clever enough to choose the three cars furthest from our front cam.’
Ms Togiatau’s post was accompanied by photographs of the damaged tyres.
‘It looks to us someone just stabbed each tyre with a knife,’ she added.
‘You can kind of see in the second pic.’
She went on to reveal the location of the incident and urged neighbours to check their home security cameras for suspicious activity.
‘If anyone has front house cams could pretty please give some insight on activity last night it would be much appreciated.’
The post’s comment section was filled with concerned locals expressing their anger over the damage.
‘It’s disgusting, what do people get out of doing this,’ wrote one.

‘Hope you catch the scumbags,’ added another.
On Sunday, Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said detectives believed Ms Schuster-Togiatau was not the target of Saturday’s shooting.
‘I don’t believe the young lady was an intended victim of this, I believe she was an innocent bystander,’ Inspector Galpin said.
‘It appals me, it’s horrific. It’s something that she and her family should never have to go through.’
It’s understood Ms Schuster-Togiatau attended the boxing event with family members who were there to watch some of the younger boxers compete.
Just hours before the shooting, she had posted a happy video on social media of herself singing with her boyfriend in the back of a car.
Since the attack, speculation online has linked it to organised crime gangs, with police now probing whether the incident was an attempted gangland execution.
It is not suggested that any of the persons shot during the incident were in any way related to what is being speculated.

Phil Austin, from the Australian National Boxing Federation Queensland, rejected suggestions the shooting was a bikie or organised crime attack targeting the boxing event.
Austin told the Daily Mail that speculation was ‘people putting two and two together and getting five’.
‘I haven’t seen any reputed organised crime figures at a fight show in this country in years,’ he said.
‘Bikies used to go to events, but since the government changed their laws, you just don’t see them.’
Austin said he did not recognise any of the victims and could not say whether they had been attending the boxing.
He added: ‘I don’t even know if they were there to watch the boxing.’
