Teen, 17, has hand cut off in Sydney park assault – as 15-year-old is arrested

Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy following an alleged assault in inner Sydney that left another teenager with a severed hand.
Police were called to Redfern Oval at about 6pm on Wednesday following reports of a concern for welfare.
A teen, 17, was found at the scene with a severed hand, with his hand barely attached to his wrist.
Police were told that he was allegedly assaulted with a knife by another teen in a nearby carpark on Morehead Road.
The wounded teen was treated by paramedics and transported to hospital in a stable condition.
Two crime scenes were set up as an investigation was launched.
Photos of one scene showed bloodied clothing strewn across the oval as police scoured the vicinity for more evidence.
Following inquiries, police stopped a vehicle on Redfern Street about 12.15am on Thursday and arrested a 15-year-old teen nearby a short time later.

The teen was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and breaching bail.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Thursday.
