Texas dad accused of killing his wife during bitter divorce after police made welfare check and spotted chilling clue on his shirt

A Texas husband accused of brutally killing the mother of his children was found by police with her blood on his clothes – and made a haunting final phone call just before officers arrived.
‘I have something to tell you. She’s dead,’ Jake Bigoni, 37, allegedly said to his mother over the phone shortly after murdering his estranged wife Eliana, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail.
‘We got into a fight and she is dead.’
Officers found Eliana’s body in the trunk of a white Hyundai in their apartment garage with significant damage to her face and head. Her two young sons, ages five and two, were home at the time of her killing, according to police documents.
Her children were removed from the home by the responding officers, who described the apartment as having ‘a large amount of blood and blood spatter,’ the arrest affidavit said.
‘You are talking about two kids who were present when this incident or crime occurred,’ Plano police officer Jerry Minton told Fox 4.
‘I can’t speculate as to what they may or may not have seen, but they were present.’
Eliana’s mom and a friend, who she was supposed to meet after picking up her sons that same day, called the police after she stopped responding to them and told officers Jake had been ‘violent in the past.’
Eliana Bigoni was supposed to pick her sons and drop them off at school the morning of her death, according to authorities
Jake and Eliana Bigoni were navigating a divorce in Plano, Texas, according to Eliana’s friend and mother, who called police the day she died asking for a welfare check
Eliana’s location showed she was at the apartment and she never made the appointment.
When officers arrived in the apartment in the Dallas suburbs, Jake had what was later identified as a blood stain on his shirt, the report stated.
Neither the family of Jake or Eliana responded to the Daily Mail’s request for comment.
It’s unclear what issues the Bigoni marriage faced, but just a year ago, Eliana announced that she and her young family were moving to the Lone Star State.
‘We’re excited to share that our family is moving from Orlando, Florida, to Dallas due to my husband’s job,’ she shared on August 18, 2025, in a Facebook post hoping to connect with other families.
‘I’m currently a realtor in Florida and will eventually continue my career in Texas as well.’
Eliana, originally from Bogota, Colombia, appeared to have spent some time in the Sunshine State in recent months, according to Facebook posts she shared.
Jake Bigoni, 37, is charged with murder and abusing of a corpse. He’s being held at the Collin County Jail north of Dallas
The young couple moved from Florida to Texas last year, a social media post shared by Eliana in August 2025 stated
Before moving to Dallas, Eliana has previously worked as a relator in Orlando
Jake’s shirt had a blood stain on it and the apartment was covered with blood when officers arrived, according to an affidavit from the Plano Police Department
In April, she shared a photo of herself at a shopping center in the Miami area.
The morning of her death, she was supposed to pick up her sons and drop them off at school, authorities said.
Jake has no criminal past, according to public records.
He is being held at the Collin County Jail after he was denied bond by a judge.
