On the occasion of the election of Dr. Khaled Al-Anani to the position of Director-General of UNESCO, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, extends his sincere thanks and appreciation to former Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, who laid the foundations of the Egyptian nomination campaign and led the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the initial founding stages of the campaign. He also expresses his appreciation and thanks to the members of the nomination campaign at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our permanent delegation to UNESCO in Paris, and the multilateral sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their intensive efforts over two and a half years in the electoral campaign to promote the Egyptian candidate.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also expressed his appreciation to the brothers in the Arab League, the African Union, and the embassies accredited to The member states of the Executive Council for the broad support they provided to the Egyptian candidate during his electoral campaign.
In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the tireless and active efforts made by the Egyptian embassies abroad over a period of 30 months and their contribution to mobilizing international support for the Egyptian candidate, which resulted in sweeping international support unprecedented in the history of the UNESCO elections.
