Tony Romo breaks his silence on drunk-driving arrest and reveals CBS crunch talks after being hit with three new citations
NFL legend and CBS analyst Tony Romo has finally broken his silence on his shock OWI arrest in Milwaukee last month.
Romo, 46, was pulled over in his Jeep on July 23 and later charged after performing poorly in sobriety tests, with humiliating bodycam footage of the incident going viral.
As the world discussed his CBS future, Romo has stayed silent for the past month – until now.
In a statement to TMZ on Thursday night, a spokesperson for Romo said: ‘Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved.’
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback was placed on indefinite leave from his $18m-a-year CBS role, and he has now revealed that he is in ongoing discussions over his future with the network.
‘We are working with local authorities to bring this matter to a close and we are communicating with CBS about next steps,’ the spokesperson added.

Romo’s first comments come just hours after three new citations were added to his drunk-driving arrest.
In addition to the original OWI charge, he has been hit with first-offense operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right side, and possessing open intoxicants inside his vehicle.
