Ready for chaos?

Netflix have just started streaming the press conference, and it’s almost go time.

They are currently showing a montage of Tyson Fury and his biggest smack talk in the past.

The boxers will be on the stage very, very soon.

Big stars in the building

Every man, woman, person, and their dog that lives and breathes boxing wants to be in that press conference room today.

We all know how feisty this will get.

And well, two of the greats of British boxing, Lennox Lewis and Carl Froch, are both there reporting for Netflix.

With the show beginning in just a few moments’ time, I can’t wait to hear their thoughts on all of this.

It almost feels like the fight is today; there is that much excitement…

The late, late show

A quick word on the start time of this fight.

A lot has been made of the fact that it will start at 2am despite being fought in the UK. Normally, we only have to stay up for fights that take place in the US or other countries.

Many British boxing fans have been left fuming by the start time; however, let’s not act like this is something new.

The late great Ricky Hatton’s famous victory over Kostya Tszyu started at 2am, and guess what? Yep, that was in Manchester.

So, while I get it isn’t ideal to see the two British ‘super’ heavyweights fight long into the night, we all may just need to cop some energy drinks and deal with it for the one night.

It’s not the first time, and it for sure won’t be the last.

How are we all feeling?

Personally, I’m blooming excited. I haven’t wanted to watch a press conference this much in a very, very long time. If ever, in fact.

Well, we are now just 15 minutes away from it starting, if everything is on schedule (which isn’t always the case).

Strap yourselves in.

‘A surprise in store’

Charlotte Daly in London:

Lennox Lewis is roaming around, as is Carl Froch and Turki. AJ and Tyson are both backstage completing their media obligations. We’re about 20 minutes out from starting.

We’re being told there is some sort of surprise happening during today’s presser, but it’s yet to be determined just how exciting it’ll be…

AJ in the house

Both the big lads are in the building now.

In fact, it appears Anthony Joshua has been here a while because he has even wrapped up a podcast.

Joshua is sporting his usual press conference attire, and I have to say, he seems very laid back.

Let’s see what he will be like when he gets on stage.

‘Scale of occasion setting in’

Charlotte Daly in London:

We have arrived for the press conference. The scale of the occasion is starting to set in. The stage looks like something, ironically, you’d see in Madison Square Garden.

It’s all quiet, for now.

But soon enough, this stage at the British Airways Arc in London will be electric. It’s all going to kick off; you can just feel it.

The calm before the storm, you could say.

White: ‘I would have been there if I didn’t have The Contender series’

Dana White, Zuffa Boxing boss, on not attending the presser:

I would have been there if I didn’t have The Contender series. There’s no confusion whatsoever. If you look at everything from the network to the guy who’s actually f*****g paying for it, and to me saying what I’ve said.

I mean, I’ve been saying it now, feels like for f*****g years, but it’s probably been weeks, but I’ve been saying the same thing. Everything that I’ve been saying is the truth, and why would I say it and double down, and triple down, and f*****g quadruple down if it wasn’t the case?

This isn’t a hesitation; this is an ego thing; a total ego thing. Boxing has taken a hit in the United States. It’s not as big as it was here 20 years ago. It has become a very British sport, and all the s*** you’re hearing, and the crying, and the bitching is all coming from the UK.

Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter, on Dana White:

Dana White CANNOT be involved in this fight. Netflix clearly didn’t get the memo… You silly soppy t**. You’ve lost, mate. Give it up, son.

I’ll be speaking with Netflix and it’ll be dealt with. You’ve been royally mugged off. Pants down, bent over, buttcheeks spanked.

Hearn vs White

I think we should scrap this mega fight and get Eddie Hearn scrapping UFC boss Dana White as our main event.

I mean, who wouldn’t pay to watch that?

The two promoters have a real history of dislike for each other and it has gone to a whole new level this past week.

This monster bout was all signed, sealed, and almost delivered last Thursday when it was announced that Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury would do battle at the Principality Stadium on December 11.

But then less than a day later, it all seemed to go pear-shaped once the involvement of White was laid bare by Netflix. This enraged Hearn and his Matchroom team, and in turn put the bout in jeopardy.

There has been a real war of words since, and plenty of doubt, but White has since confirmed he would not attend the presser.

And it seems, the fight is on.

Gypsy King arrives

Look who is here…

Tyson Fury has cut short his family holiday at Disney World in the US to return to London for the press conference. I wonder how Paris is feeling about that.

Of course, the Gypsy King is sporting a snazzy suit as always, but he doesn’t exactly seem a happy chappy.
