Los Angeles closes beaches due to sanitation

Beaches in the Los Angeles area were closed over the weekend, January 1-2, in the largest sewage leak in history.

About 7 million gallons (about 26.5 million liters) of sewage was poured into the Dominguez Canal, which flows into the Port of Los Angeles. due to a sewage line failure.

As a result of the accident, Los Angeles, Oak Ridge and the city of Long Beach decided to close several beaches. Waste water seeped into the city streets.
