US State Department: The oil market deficit is about two million barrels per day

The US State Department’s senior energy security adviser, Amos Hochstein, told Bloomberg TV that the US sees a shortage of oil on the global market, amounting to about two million barrels per day.

This is due to the interruption of supplies from Russia to the market. It is possible that some OPEC members do not see this deficit, but we understand that this is a difficult problem for them.

Hochstein added that in the context of the ongoing shortage in the energy market, the OPEC and OPEC + countries decided to continue increasing production, while the United States does not consider this decision to be correct.

“President (Joe Biden) is not asking others to do the work that we should be doing,” Hochstein said.
