Pentagon confirms successful launch of hypersonic missile

The Pentagon confirmed that the United States recently conducted successful flight tests of the Lockheed Martin supersonic missile.

According to the Office of Advanced Research Projects of the US Department of Defense, we are talking about a hypersonic breathing weapon concept missile (HAWC), which during launch reached a speed of more than Mach 5, rose to a height of about 12. kilometers and flew about 550 kilometers.

The Pentagon indicated that this launch is the second successful missile test under this program.

Earlier, the US television channel CNN reported about secret US experiments with a hypersonic missile, citing a source in the Pentagon. According to the channel’s interlocutor, the officials did not talk about these tests for fear of an escalation of relations with Russia.

According to the source, the test launch took place in mid-March before US President Joe Biden’s trip to Europe to attend the extraordinary NATO Summit and G7 meeting.
