Le Pen vows to become ‘President of all French’

French National Rally leader Marine Le Pen has promised to improve citizens’ security and to become “President of all Frenchmen” if she wins the election.

“I will set the country straight in five years, I will guarantee the independence of the country and make France a land of peace,” Le Pen said.

She also stated that she would pay great attention to ensuring France’s sovereignty in all sectors, “so that the French can decide for themselves and protect their interests.”

On Sunday, France held the first round of the presidential elections. According to the polling day, French President Emmanuel Macron leads the race with 28.5%. Followed by Marine Le Pen who was supported by 24.2% of voters.

These two candidates are followed by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of the leftist France rebel party, with 20.2% of the vote.

According to forecasts, in the second round, scheduled for April 24, Macron’s lead over Le Pen will be 4-5%.

This week, Politico wrote, citing three unnamed US administration officials, that the US government fears the possibility of Marine Le Pen coming to power.
