Susan Sarandon replaces Sharon Stone in Blue Beetle
Oscar-winning 75-year-old American actress Susan Sarandon will play antagonist Victoria Cord in Blue Beetle
Details about Sarandon’s personality are not known yet. It was originally meant to be played by Sharon Stone.
Jolo Maridueño will play the lead role of Reyes, one of the three characters who were the Blue Beetle in the original DC comics. Reyes, an El Paso teenager, discovers a “magical” scarab beetle on his way home from school. Bringing the insect home, the boy got superpowers.
This is the first DC project where the main character is of Latino origin. Directed by Angel Manuel Soto. The screenplay was written by Gareth Dunnett Alcozer, who worked on the Scarface remake.
The Blue Beetle is expected to hit theaters in 2023.
