Turkey begins production of Altay tank

Serial production of the Altay main battle tank will begin in Turkey, within the next two years.

It should be noted that the preparation for such production at the present time is in the final stage. The weight of the tank will be 65 tons, and it will be equipped with a new armor and active protection system from Aselsan, capable of withstanding damage from modern anti-tank missile systems (including Javelin).

According to CNN Türk, the Altay will be able to shoot at a speed of 8 km with the support of a computer system.

At the end of last year, the leadership of the Turkish defense industry announced a tender for the construction of the 6th, 7th and 8th class frigates of the Istanbul class, which will be built under the MILGEM program.

The first five ships of this type have been under construction since 2017. The flagship frigate of the TCG Istanbul project is expected to enter service with the Turkish Navy in 2023.
