Greece begins talks with US to acquire F-35 fighters

Athens has agreed to cooperate with Washington in acquiring fifth-generation F-35 stealth fighters.

“We will continue our long-term cooperation between our defense industries. We will start cooperation on acquiring the F-35,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greek Prime Minister.
I hope we can add this wonderful aircraft to our armed forces.”

It is noteworthy that the US company Lockheed Martin has expressed an interest in investing in the Greek aircraft manufacturer EAV.

Mitsotakis added that Greece is looking for peaceful ways to resolve disputes with neighbors while investing in the country’s military. This is being carried out to increase national capabilities and strengthen NATO’s southeastern flank.

Earlier, Washington sent a request to the Greek government to deploy F-35 and F-15 aircraft on the island of Crete.
