Pentagon: India will deploy S-400 within a month

India plans to deploy a Russian-made S-400 missile defense system by next month to defend itself against Pakistani and Chinese threats, a senior Pentagon intelligence official told a congressional hearing.

According to him, the deployment of the complex is taking place as part of a large-scale modernization of the Indian forces, including the air, land, sea and strategic nuclear forces.

In turn, the Director of the Intelligence Agency of the US Department of Defense, Lieutenant General Scott Perrier, told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee that India began receiving the S-400 from Russia in December 2021. He added that India intends to use this system “to protect against Pakistani and Chinese threats.”

According to American experts, the existence of this system “may give India a false sense of impunity and increase the possibility of a military conflict between India and Pakistan.
