A severe meteor storm will hit Earth with “10,000 meteors an hour” for two hours on May 31

Astronomer Alexander Yakushkin said that on May 31, the Earth is waiting for a very severe meteor storm with several thousand meteors per hour passing through the Earth.

“On the morning of May 31, Earthlings are waiting – a real meteor shower, the number of meteors can reach 10 thousand per hour.

The duration of the increased activity of the meteor will be about two hours, Yakushkin said, and the maximum, according to calculations, will be when it is already dawn at the eastern meridians.

According to the expert, this phenomenon will best manifest itself in the Western Hemisphere, in North America. He noted that according to the calculations, the meteor shower will begin around 5 am GMT.

Yakushkin added that the meteors will mostly be weak and faint, so it is advisable to watch the phenomenon outside the city.
