A delegation from the leaders of the Evangelical community congratulates the Grand Imam on the imminent advent of Eid al-Fitr
The head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, Dr. Reverend Andre Zaki, affirmed the community’s appreciation for the key role of the Grand Imam, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, in supporting the values of tolerance, coexistence, citizenship, and building community peace.
This came during a reception Today, Wednesday, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb visited a high-ranking delegation from the leaders of the Evangelical community in Egypt, headed by Pastor Andre Zaki, to congratulate him on the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Fitr.
The head of the Evangelical community said, “We congratulate your Eminence and all Muslims in Egypt and the world.” We wish continued peace and love, and for our country progress and prosperity.” He added: “We are proud of your virtue, and we feel comfort, love, and appreciation in the meetings that bring us together, and we are proud of the relationship of friendship and love that links us with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.”
For his part, Al-Tayeb said “We welcome you to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and we thank you for your kind feelings, and we are pleased with these visits and meetings in which we exchange congratulations on holidays and occasions, which confirm the cohesion of us Egyptians. Muslims and Christians, in one national fabric.”
He added: “However, what our Palestinian brothers in Gaza have been suffering from the brutal aggression for nearly six months, makes us feel great pain. Has any manifestations of joy not disappeared with it, so our hearts are almost I am heartbroken by what is happening to children, women, the elderly and youth in Gaza.. The reality of the Gaza tragedy is a historical human tragedy, and in my life I have never witnessed greater brutality and barbarism than what this entity, which has lost all meanings of humanity and morality, practiced against our innocent brothers in the Gaza Strip."
