"Dubai Charity" Distributes food baskets to families affected by the depression "The roar" Aerial
Dubai, April 22 / WAM / The Dubai Charitable Society distributed urgent humanitarian relief aid to many families affected in the Emirate of Dubai as a result of the “Roaring” depression and the record heavy rains that recently affected the country.
His Excellency Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Association, said that Dubai Charity has been present with its work teams since the first day in the field to support those affected by the weather depression, by providing urgent aid that supports the stability of those affected, in accordance with the approach that the Association is accustomed to, and in light of its humanitarian mission and within its societal responsibility and as a reflection of the UAE’s approach. Well-established since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and the directives of the wise leadership that always provides support and urgent response in times of crises and natural disasters.
He added that sending food supplies to families whose homes are besieged by water comes within the framework of providing the necessary needs in times of crisis, especially during exceptional climatic conditions that result in the inability to secure their food needs, noting that food baskets were distributed to approximately 1,000 beneficiaries of these families.
Al Suwaidi praised the urgent measures and exemplary efforts taken by the government, relevant agencies, and the great community solidarity while facing the repercussions of the exceptional weather situation that the country witnessed.
The UAE was exposed to the “Roaring” depression last Tuesday, as a result of which it witnessed the largest amounts of rain in its modern history within 24 hours in many regions, which is the largest since the beginning of recording climate data in the year 1949 AD.
