Abdullah bin Zayed receives the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations
Abu Dhabi, April 25 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Her Excellency Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
During the meeting held today in Abu Dhabi, His Highness and Her Excellency discussed various paths of cooperation between the UAE and the United Nations and its various institutions and programmes, especially on the humanitarian and development levels.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE and the United Nations are linked by a sustainable cooperative approach and a fruitful and effective partnership with the aim of promoting comprehensive and sustainable development in societies and achieving prosperity and prosperity for peoples.
His Highness and His Excellency Amina Mohammed also discussed the current developments in the Middle East region and the tensions it is witnessing, and in this regard; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of giving priority to the path of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve all differences and enhance efforts to maintain regional and international peace and security.
His Highness and His Excellency Amina Mohammed also discussed the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and ways to enhance the humanitarian response to the needs of civilians. His Highness pointed to the importance of strengthening regional and international efforts to end extremism, tension and escalating violence in the region and ensure the access of humanitarian aid to civilians in an adequate, safe and sustainable manner without any obstacles.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
