Star Denbos Barak, President of the General Federation of Iraqi Trade Unions, received a delegation from the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions headed by Mohamed Gibran, participating in the work of the fiftieth session of the Arab Labor Conference held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

350 participants are participating in the conference. Ministers, heads and members of delegations from employers’ organizations and labor unions from 21 Arab countries, representatives of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, representatives of Arab and international organizations, and a number of ambassadors and prominent figures in the Republic of Iraq.

Mohamed Gibran expressed his happiness with the important topics included on the agenda targeting sustainable development in the Arab countries through productive labor markets.

Gibran said that the fiftieth session of the Arab Labor Conference is concerned with decent work conditions and how to provide fair and equitable job opportunities, which coincides with the vision of the political leadership in Egypt, which works to achieve fair wages for workers and has taken a number of measures to Achieving social protection, most notably the unification of the minimum wage for workers in the public and private sectors from the first of May at a value of 6,000 pounds, which confirms the unification of visions among Arab countries regarding the file of work and workers.

It is worth noting that the conference reviews the basics and principles of productive work, to emphasize the role of education and training in achieving sustainable economic development.

The conference also seeks to open new horizons for discussion on how to provide fair and equitable job opportunities in the digital economy, and “decent work conditions for young people on digital platforms” challenges and aspirations”.
