Citizens of Ukraine of military age will be able to remain in Germany with invalid internal passports, reported in the German government.

In response to a corresponding request from Deutsche Welle, it is stated that “the provision or extension of temporary residence permits in Germany to Ukrainian refugees does not require them to have a valid passport. The main thing is that the authorities have the opportunity to establish the person’s identity in some way.”

At the same time, men liable for military service from Ukraine with invalid internal passports will not have their right to stay in Poland extended, media reports citing the Polish Ministry of Defense.

  • On April 16, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law that tightened the rules of mobilization in the country. In accordance with it, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine prohibited the provision of consular services abroad to citizens of their country of military age, that is, men from 18 to 60 years old.
