The Fujairah government delegation participates in "26th World Energy Conference"In the Netherlands

Rotterdam, April 26 / WAM / A delegation from the government of the Emirate of Fujairah participated in the twenty-sixth session of the World Energy Conference, which was held in the city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, during the period from April 22 to 25, amid a large presence and wide participation of ministers, experts, businessmen and young energy leaders. In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, on the importance of joint work between government agencies, integration of efforts, and effective participation in the largest regional and international forums related to achieving sustainable development goals, in consistent steps. With the general trends of the state to enhance its prestigious position at all levels, especially economic ones.

His Excellency Engineer Mohammed Saif Al-Afkham, Director-General of the Fujairah Municipality, headed the delegation participating in the conference, which included His Excellency Engineer Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, His Excellency Captain Salem Al-Afkham, Director-General of the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone, and His Excellency Asila Al-Mualla, Director of the Fujairah Environment Authority.

By building supportive partnerships to enhance contributions to protecting the environment and preserving natural resources, to achieve a safe and sustainable green future for the emirate, noting the participation of the Fujairah delegation in the conference that brought together various leaders and experts from all cities of the world, in order to exchange experiences and benefit from the topics of interest presented. Joint efforts to develop energy and accelerate the adoption of emission reduction technologies and the effective production of low-carbon hydrogen, to build sustainable societies.

In turn, Salem Al-Afkham explained that participation in the World Energy Conference will have an important impact in achieving the goals and aspirations of the Emirate of Fujairah and the Fujairah Petroleum Industry Zone (Foz) in the field of transition to clean energy, and supporting the green economy methodology that the UAE has adopted to achieve a sustainable future, given that it is the most important conference. A comprehensive vision for global energy leadership, stressing that the Petroleum Zone focuses on attracting investments and projects that use the latest technologies to reduce the carbon footprint and reduce emissions, in addition to treating waste to preserve the environment, which will contribute to diversifying sustainable energy sources, which will reflect positively on enhancing economic development in general. .

Asila Al Mualla pointed out the importance of attending the 26th World Energy Conference in Rotterdam and responding to the invitation of the World Energy Council and the Mayor of Rotterdam, His Excellency Ahmed Abu Taleb, which reflects the Fujairah Environment Authority’s commitment to learning about the best green practices and discussing with world experts on how to overcome the most prominent challenges facing this sector. In light of the demand for a shift towards clean and renewable energy alternatives, which is one of the most prominent outcomes of COP 28, which stressed the necessity of finding alternatives in this regard and urged all sectors to gradually shift and dispense with fossil fuels and rely on natural resources to supply energy, she said: “Perhaps the most important goals of attending the conference are to stand On the priorities that must be worked on and aligned with the directions of the strategic plan for the Emirate of Fujairah and the goals of the UAE to achieve the goals of sustainable development and climate neutrality.”

On the sidelines of participation, the delegation was briefed on the experiences of the city of Rotterdam and the countries participating in the conference on how to deal with new projects in the energy sector, including ammonia manufacturing projects, recycling hazardous waste generated from these projects, electric car batteries, and other innovative activities due to the growing global challenges in light of the Fourth industrial revolution.
