Abu Dhabi, May 7 / WAM / The official mourning period for the late Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan ends at the end of today, the seventh of May, and flags will be raised tomorrow morning.
The mourning period lasted seven days for a lofty national figure known for her skill and devotion in serving the nation.
The path of the late great will remain immortal in the nation’s memory, and a beacon for generations to follow after he left a legacy full of giving and achievement and immortal imprints in various fields.
Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, “may God have mercy on him,” was among those who accompanied the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and among those working with him on the federal project that culminated on December 2, 1971, with the declaration of the State of the Union.
He held several positions during his national career, where he held the position of Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture since July 1, 1971. He was also appointed as the Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (Al Ain Region) on August 9 of the same year.
On July 8, 1972, an Amiri decree was issued appointing Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Arab Development and Economics (currently the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development) and as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC” in 1973.
During the year 1974, a decree was issued appointing him as Chairman of the Municipality and Agriculture Department in Al Ain, and with the establishment of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Corporation, he was a member of its Board of Directors, and his membership was renewed in 1980.
During 1977, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” appointed him as a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council in 1988.
