“That sounds a bit old fart…”

Gérard Darmon, starring in an episode of Captain Marleau this evening on France 2 alongside Elie Semoun and Corinne Masiero, will always surprise us! The 76-year-old actor has a strong opinion on the former rapper, Diam’s, and he expressed it on RTL a few years ago.

Who would’ve believed that ? Gérard Darmon might happen to listen to Rap! Invited in 2022 at the microphone of RTL in the Unexpected Journal, the presenter Ophélie Meunier had broadcast music by Diam’s. And the actor immediately reacted, euphoric. “I love Diam’s! I don’t think we’ve done better than that… It’s terrible to say, it’s a bit of an old fart who still clings to [ce qui se faisait] fifteen years ago, but not at all! I think if you listen to what she says, it’s beautiful.”

More than 10 years ago, the rapper ended her career to devote herself to her private life and the practice of Islam. And since then, many artists have regretted it. This is the case of comedian Melha Bedia, who also feels this nostalgia for Diam’s music. “We miss her a lot. She wrote like no one else.”says Ramzy’s younger sister to 7 Days TV, close to the interpreter of the Pellet. “Right from the start, she pushed me on stage as the opening act to do sketches. She was really the one who started me.”

Diam’s, real name Mélanie Georgiades, released a documentary in 2022, Salam on Prime Video. After 10 years of absence from the media, the rapper spoke about her new life, but also her years of glory, her suffering, her suicidal desires and her conversion to Islam.

It is also her friend Melha Bedia who does not fail to reassure her fans like the actor Gérard Darmon: “She is doing very well. She is on social networks, she continues to write and has written two books which are great. She does lots of things. She is a fulfilled mother, she is doing very, very well.” She is the mother of three children: Maryam, Abraham and Luqman.
