What P-Plater allegedly said about his BMW after being charged over the deaths of a woman and her unborn baby in horror crash

A teenager accused of causing a fatal crash that killed a heavily pregnant mother has allegedly asked for updates about his car while waiting to face court.
Samanvidha Dhareshwar, 33, who was eight months pregnant, was walking with her husband and three-year-old son along George Street at Hornsby, on Sydney’s north shore, when she was struck about 8pm on Friday.
Police allege the 48-year-old driver of a Kia Carnival slowed down at the entrance of the train station carpark to let the family cross the footpath when it was hit from behind by a white BMW, causing the Kia to surge forward and hit the woman.
Ms Dhareshwar was treated at the scene for catastrophic injuries before she was rushed to Westmead Hospital, where she and her unborn couldn’t be saved.
Aaron Papazoglu, 19, was arrested several hours later at a Wahroonga address and taken to Hornsby police station to be questioned.
Police sources claim the teen repeatedly asked officers for updates about the state of his car after the crash, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Papazoglu was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and causing the death of a foetus.
He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

Neither Papazoglu or the Kia driver were injured in the collision. Both were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Ms Dhareshwar had been walking out with her husband and their young son on what tragically would be their last outing as a family.
Following the horrific crash, her devastated family were seen crying and covering their mouths in shock.
Residents have laid flowers at the scene in memory of the mother and her unborn baby.
‘I have children and grandchildren. I can’t even imagine how that family is feeling,’ one woman told the Telegraph.
NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Assistant Commissioner David Driver described the crash as ‘very confronting’ for emergency crews.
‘Any serious crash is very confronting for first responders and particularly tragic when people pass away and indeed when there are children involved,’ he told reporters on Saturday.
‘This is a terrible, terrible story.’

Zoe’s Law, introduced in NSW in 2022, created specific offences for causing the loss of an unborn child through criminal acts.
Previously, such loss was treated as an injury to the mother.
Under the law, if a foetus of at least 20 weeks or 400 grams dies due to dangerous driving or grievous bodily harm, offenders face harsher penalties, with up to three years added to the maximum sentence for the underlying offence.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact Hornsby Police or Crime Stoppers.
