Patrick Mahomes dealt ultimate humiliation as quarterback falls from grace after Chiefs’ nightmare season

After spending years owning one of the most popular jerseys in the sport, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can no longer claim to be a best-seller after a down season.

Mahomes, who sustained a serious injury in the game that doomed the Chiefs to miss the playoffs, had consistently been one of the top sellers for jerseys in the NFL.

Last season, Mahomes sat second behind Saquon Barkley – who was in his first year with the Philadelphia Eagles.

This year was much, much lower for the former MVP as Mahomes plummeted down the charts.

As shared by the NFL Shop, Mahomes ranked No. 22 for the league in 2025 in jersey sales.

He was one spot ahead of Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and a place behind Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

To make matters worse, one of Mahomes’ biggest rivals – Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen – rose up from No. 6 in 2024 to claim the No. 1 spot in 2025.

Behind Allen is New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who led his team from one of the worst records in the league in 2024 to the second-seed in the AFC in 2025. 

After the two AFC East quarterbacks, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner came in third.

Rounding out the top five is Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the aforementioned Barkley.

Beyond them, top-ten spots went to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Dallas Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb and a trio of 49ers stars: Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Brock Purdy.

2026 may see a further slip for Mahomes as he is expected to miss a portion of the season after tearing his ACL.

He underwent surgery, but recovery time may force him to miss multiple weeks.

However, Chiefs staff are hopeful that Mahomes could be ready by the time the season begins.
