Bill Clinton’s House deposition descends into debate about Trump’s relationship with Epstein: Live updates

Former President Bill Clinton’s closed-door deposition with the House Oversight Committee has raised questions about President Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, lawmakers said.

Two hours into the former president’s testimony, Republican Chairman James Comer told reporters that the former president had no indication Trump was involved with Epstein’s crimes – a claim Trump has long-maintained.

Trump has always denied wrongdoing and has never been formally charged with a crime associated with Epstein.

But Democratic members of the committee offered a different perspective, indicating that the information Bill Clinton gave them had raised more questions about Trump and Epstein’s relationship. They did not elaborate or offer details but said the transcript and recording of the deposition would provide clarity.

Bill Clinton had a social and professional relationship with Epstein before Epstein’s first conviction in Florida. The former president has never been charged with a crime associated with Epstein and assured lawmakers Friday that he “saw nothing” and “did nothing wrong.”

His deposition comes one day after his wife, Hillary Clinton, sat for six hours of questioning. Hillary Clinton said she knew very little of Epstein and “deferred” questions to her husband.
