Beau Lamarre-Condon’s link to the farm where Jesse Baird and Luke Davies’ bodies were found – accused killer dated farmer’s son and told him he was a fitness instructor for the NSW Police

Beau Lamarre-Condon knew of the rural farm in Bungonia through a man he briefly dated, the court heard.

Lamarre-Condon allegedly dumped the bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies on the farm, about 200km south of Sydney, shortly after he allegedly killed them on February 19, 2024.

On Wednesday, the court heard that Lamarre-Condon went on an overnight date at the farm on November 6, 2023, with a man he met on Hinge named Michael Cella.

The man’s family own the Bungonia farm, which is called Cella Farm. His statement was read to the court by the Crown.

In Mr Cella’s statement, he recalled that he and Lamarre-Condon spoke briefly on Hinge and Instagram after they matched in March 2023.

They didn’t properly start talking until September of that year, when Lamarre-Condon texted him, ‘randomly, out of the blue’, asking: ‘Hey how’s it going?’

The court heard Lamarre-Condon told Mr Cella that he was a fitness trainer for NSW Police. He didn’t say that he was a police officer with NSW Police.

They met at Tramsheds near Glebe, where Lamarre-Condon went to the gym and charged his Tesla.

Mr Cella said Lamarre-Condon’s Tesla was originally white, but he paid to change the colour to matte grey.

They had a coffee before Lamarre-Condon invited him back to the Balmain home he shared with his mother.

Upon entry, Mr Cella saw a portrait of Lamarre-Condon in his NSW Police uniform hanging on the wall.

When Lamarre-Condon realised Mr Cella had seen the portrait, the court heard, he said: ‘Oh, didn’t you know?’

They didn’t see each other again until September 2023, when Lamarre-Condon arranged for them to meet at Westfield Bondi Junction.

Mr Cella waited in the foyer of a clinic while Lamarre-Condon had an ultrasound on his shoulder.

When the appointment was over, Lamarre-Condon told Mr Cella that he worked with troubled youths and one teenager had punched him hard in the shoulder.

The court previously heard that Lamarre-Condon told Jesse Baird that he had cancer in his shoulder, which may need amputation. Crown prosecutors said there was no evidence to suggest a cancer diagnosis.

Mr Cella said Lamarre-Condon insisted they meet around Bondi, even though he knew Mr Cella lived in Sydney’s western suburbs.

He said Lamarre-Condon always wore a hat while out in public and appeared self-conscious.

The court heard the pair talked often and saw The Hunger Games and the Taylor Swift film at the cinema.

In November 2023, Lamarre-Condon invited Mr Cella to a cabin, which was about $400 per night – which Mr Cella couldn’t afford.

Instead, he suggested they go to his family’s farm in Bungonia.

According to Mr Cella’s statement, he picked Lamarre-Condon up from Balmain on November 6 and drove them to Bungonia, which took about two hours.

He said they went for a drive around the property, interacted with sheep and other farm animals, and stayed overnight.

Lamarre-Condon uploaded a story to Instagram featuring highlights from the stay. He included the song ‘You Belong With Me’ in the video.

After dropping Lamarre-Condon back to Balmain on November 7, Mr Cella said he started seeing photos of a man on Lamarre-Condon’s Instagram, who he later found out was Jesse Baird.

According to his statement, Lamarre-Condon uploaded a video of himself with Baird at a cabin, and together at other destinations.

He ended up blocking Lamarre-Condon on social media.

Mr Cella said in his statement that he received calls from unknown numbers around January 2024, which he didn’t answer.

In February, he found out that police suspected the bodies of Baird and his new boyfriend Luke Davies might be on his family’s farm.

The bodies were found on February 27, 2024.
