Urgent recall after deadly allergen found ice cream bars sold in 31 states
Your dessert could be deadly.
Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars have been recalled nationwide after it was discovered they may contain an undeclared allergen.
Dreyer’s has issued a recall for its Häagen-Dazs Chocolate dark chocolate ice cream bars sold across the United States, warning they may contain traces of wheat that are not listed on the label.
The recall applies to six-count boxes with the batch code LLA519501 and a best-by date of January 31, 2027.
The affected products were shipped to Kroger and Giant Eagle stores in 31 states. Scroll down for the full list.
Wheat is one of the top eight food allergens in the US and can trigger severe reactions in people with allergies or gluten intolerance, affecting about one percent of the population.
So far, no allergic reactions or injuries have been reported, according to the Food and Drug Administration, and no other Häagen-Dazs products are part of the recall.
Consumers who purchased the affected ice cream bars are advised to throw them away or return them to the store for a full refund.

The recall comes as it is revealed that the ice cream bars may contain undeclared wheat
Products affected were shipped to two retail stores, Kroger and Giant Eagle, in 31 states
‘Although our investigation is ongoing, we believe products containing wheat were repacked into the incorrect packaging at the beginning of a production run,’ the company said in its recall notice.
‘Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.’
Dreyer’s said it is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the recall and will ‘cooperate with them fully.’
‘The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority,’ the company said. ‘We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.’
This isn’t the first dessert to contain unlabeled wheat in recent months.
In August, Neuhaus Chocolates recalled its Belgian Chocolate Moments Smurfs Popping Milk Chocolates with Cookies because they contain undeclared wheat.
The recalled cookies were sent to stores in New York, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and were available online via the Neuhaus website.
In September, Rolling Pin Baking Company recalled its popular Dubai Style Chocolate sold at Costco after a packaging error listed the wrong ingredient.
The label said the snack contained gluten, but in fact it includes wheat — a potential allergen.
The manufacturer announced the recall on Costco’s website after discovering the error.
