Woman fighting for life after forklift explodes into flames in Brisbane – as four others are rushed to hospital
A woman is fighting for life with severe burns after a forklift burst into flames at a Brisbane facility, while four others were taken to hospital.
Emergency services rushed to Anton Road in the eastern riverside suburb of Hemmant just before 11am on Friday after reports of the blaze.
Seven fire crews arrived at the scene and found an industrial forklift engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to nearby containers.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said a woman with life-threatening burns to her chest, head and face was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Another woman was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a possible life-threatening condition with burns to her arms.
Paramedics also transported two men to Mater Hospital Brisbane with smoke inhalation.
A third man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with smoke inhalation.
