Miss World contest canceled at the last minute due to “23 participants infected with COVID-19”

The Miss World pageant, which was scheduled to take place on December 16 in Puerto Rico, was canceled just hours before the start because at least 23 participants tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the media – due to the cancellation of the event at the last moment, its organizers lost several million dollars, this amount can reach 5 million.

A representative of the organizers commented on the cancellation of the competition: “The safety of all beauty pageant participants turned out to be a top priority, even if it comes with additional costs.”

In addition to 23 of the 97 entries in the competition itself, 15 employees who organized it have contracted COVID-19.

The final of the Miss World 2021 contest has been postponed to March 16 next year.
