Musician Mark Lanegan passes away

Musician Mark Lanegan has passed away at the age of 57. This was announced on his official Twitter account.

Lanegan died at his home in Killarney, Ireland, on the morning of February 22. The cause of his death was not mentioned. Representatives of the artist demanded that the privacy of the late musician’s family be respected.

In 2021, Lanegan contracted the coronavirus. The disease was severe, after which the musician fell into a coma for several months. In December, Lanegan published a memoir, “The Devil in a Coma,” describing his experience.

During his illness, Lanegan also sustained a broken rib as a result of a fall. In hospital, he suffered from frequent hallucinations. The musician compared comas to “an endless stay in county jail.”

Lanegan was born in 1964 in Ellensburg, Washington. In 1985, he started his music career by founding the grunge band Screaming Trees.

During his life, he participated in the recordings of the Stone Age Queens and Isobel Campbell, was the vocalist of the Soulsavers and created another band – The Gutter Twins. Since 1990, Lanegan has also released his solo music.
