Google bans RT and Sputnik apps
Google Play has banned apps related to Russian media RT and Sputnik in the European Union.
According to Reuters reports. The blocking of content occurred against the background of the broadcasting ban in the European Union of Sputnik and RT – as part of the sanctions and the ban on participation in projects co-financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
Earlier, Apple announced the restriction of Apple Pay and other services in Russia.
In addition, Apple clarified that “for reasons of security and precautions for citizens of Ukraine,” they have turned off traffic and accident reports on Apple Maps in this country.
Russian media faced similar restrictions on Facebook – Meta announced a restriction of access to RT and Sputnik accounts in the European Union.
