NATO operates HIMARS missile systems in Ukraine

The HIMARS Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) supplied by the United States to Kyiv are controlled by NATO instructors, two crews are deployed in southern Ukraine, the rest in Donbass.

“The crews of the facilities are staffed by non-staff personnel from NATO, guarded by employees of PMCs (PMCs – roughly) near the Pentagon, those with whom contracts are often concluded,” the RIA Novosti report says.

According to the source, the calculations are supported by US military satellites, and after the launch, HIMARS changes its position and no longer returns to its original place of launch.

Also, combat support for HIMARS accounts is provided by “more primitive” systems “Hurricane” or “Smerch”. The security official said they should “saturate” the Russian air defense systems with targets and exhaust their ammunition by the time the HIMARS system is launched.

He added that the American MLRS is moving late at night, during the curfew. It is also known that Ukrainian MLRS crews are not familiar with the joint work with HIMARS, often not knowing that they are “acting as cover for the launch of HIMARS.” The interlocutor explained that the Ukrainian calculations only tell about the time of launch and the coordinates of the targets.
