German Foreign Minister expresses fears of popular unrest due to gas shortage

German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock said that there is a risk of popular unrest due to the lack of gas.

According to Boerbuk, Germany will still need gas from Russia. In particular, she said that if Siemens refused to repair the turbines of the Nord Stream 1, Germany could face public discontent.

Burbock noted.: “The Canadians said they had a lot of questions. We answered that we understand this, but if we don’t get gas turbines, we will no longer receive gas, and then we will not be able to support Ukraine, since we will be busy with popular uprisings.”

She explained that she had “exaggerated a little” when asked about the reality of these uprisings.

Earlier, Barbock said German authorities are doing everything they can to avoid a split in society amid the gas supply situation. As the minister added, the German government fears that the Russian Federation will not resume gas supplies via Nord Stream after the planned annual inspection of the pipeline.
