The Israel Defense Forces have said they “strongly reject” claims that they are using an artificial intelligence system to identify terrorists, according to which they condone the killing of more than 100 civilians to successfully target every Hamas commander.

Left-wing Israeli news site +972 reported that the IDF is using an artificial intelligence program called lavender to “generate” assassination targets in Gaza, citing six Israeli intelligence officials.

Two of the sources said the IDF decided to accept the collateral damage of 15 to 20 civilians killed for every young Hamas operative the Lavender program could find.

This number reportedly increased to 100 civilians per commander in some incidents, while 37,000 Palestinians are said to have been identified as suspected militants to target with airstrikes.
