Sydney Harbour Tunnel closed due to car fire causing traffic delays

A car fire has forced the closure of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel in both directions.
The blaze, which started just after 8am on Wednesday, led to major delays on the Gore Hill Freeway past Artarmon and increasing congestion on the M1.
Sprinklers in the tunnel automatically activated when the fire began.
At least 12 firefighters and three trucks were called to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Paramedics are also at the scene to assess one person for smoke inhalation.
Traffic queues for the tunnel have stretched past Mosman.
Transport for NSW has urged motorists to use diversions, plan their journey, and allow extra travel time.
Light vehicles can use the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Cahill Expressway but heavy vehicles must find alternative routes.
