The Internet Mourns As Amelia Dimoldenberg Announced The End Of Chicken Shop Date

Prepare your grease-soaked napkins and wet wipes, ‘cos the waterworks are about to kick off with Amelia Dimoldenberg‘s Chicken Shop Date coming to an end.

In an incredibly sombre Instagram post, Dimoldenberg announced that her baby, her pièce de résistance, and the source of everyone’s joy, Chicken Shop Date, will be wrapping up for good.

“When I was 17, I had a fantastic idea that I might meet the love of my life on a date in a chicken shop,” her IG caption began.

“I’ve spent my entire twenties sitting across from the most incredible people, people I’d always dreamt of meeting. All of them charmed me (some more than others), and I definitely charmed them.

“To me, the show is my very own romcom, and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found some joy in these episodes.”

“I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one,” she continued.

“But before I say goodbye forever, I want to celebrate everything Chicken Shop Date has been for me with a few final dates…coming very soon.”

Alongside the heartfelt caption, the post featured a series of the iconic red checkered napkins with messages including “All good dates must come to an end” and “Chicken Shop Date: The Final Series Coming Soon”.

The internet reacts to the impending end of Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date

The announcement instantly imploded with friends and fans congratulating Dimoldenberg for her contribution to entertainment, her wit, finesse and every pop culture moment born from her project, Chicken Shop Date.

“Legendary run Amelia; I’ll be first in line for whatever’s next,” Hot OnesSean Evans commented.

“Amelia, you are the 🐐 and I have no doubt that whatever you create next will be spectacular,” Kareem Rahma of Subway Takes penned.

“We’re so excited for you, chickadee!” Liza Koshy wrote.

Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date began as a print column for The Cut, which she wrote at just 17 years old. After two years, the column blossomed into a YouTube video series, with her first video date being with British Grime rapper Ghetts.
