DRDO, IAF successfully test RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from Su-30MKI fighter; hits target with pin-point accuracy

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have successfully carried out flight-tests of the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from an airborne platform. The tests were conducted under extreme release conditions and validated the performance of all critical subsystems through the missile’s trajectory.

According to the official statement, the missile accurately engaged a predefined target after launch, achieving pin-point accuracy. Data captured through various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, confirmed that all test objectives were successfully achieved.

Indigenously developed missile system

RudraM-II has been developed indigenously by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, which served as the nodal DRDO laboratory for the project. The programme was undertaken in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories, including the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Armament Research & Development Establishment and ITR.

Development cum Production Partners (DcPPs) also played a key role in the programme. Agencies such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness, Missile System Quality Assurance Agency and several industry partners contributed significantly to the missile’s development and testing.

Rajnath Singh praises successful trials

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the IAF, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, DcPPs and industry partners for the successful flight-tests.

He said the achievement reflects the increasing maturity of indigenous defence technologies and contributes significantly to the country’s goal of Aatmanirbharta in advanced weapon systems.

DRDO chief congratulates teams

The Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, also congratulated all teams associated with the programme for the successful completion of the flight-tests and described the achievement as commendable.
