The Traitors’ Alex Nation Spills On Her Biggest Regret

Alex Nation has revealed what she believes was her biggest mistake on The Traitors Australia that saw her booted from the New Zealand mansion in one of the most emotional Round Tables of the series. 

The Bachelor winner was one of the OG Traitors this season alongside Australian Survivor’s Kirby Bentley and MasterChef’s Alvin Quah, and was playing a brilliant game of deception before she was banished in Tuesday night’s episode. So, where did it all go wrong?

Alex Nation reveals her biggest regret on The Traitors

Alex told PEDESTRIAN.TV following her elimination that her biggest regret on The Traitors Australia was her blow-up with AJ Antonios over breakfast, which not only led to Alvin’s elimination but also her own downfall.

“I don’t hate anything I did because I think I’ve made great television. However, when it comes to the game and trying to win the money and actually get to the end, I would not have gone into breakfast hot like that,” she shared.

“I would have simmered down and been a lot smarter and a lot more strategic with how I approached AJ, because I should have met him at his game. Like, I should have played him at his own game and not revealed that he’d gotten to me. I think that’s the biggest mistake I made in that show. That breakfast, me doing that, was the demise of old Alex Nation as a Traitor.”

While the move was ultimately terrible for her game, it was undoubtedly incredible TV and reminded viewers of her fiery moments on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise.

“I’m watching myself pop off at this guy on TV, and I’m like, it’s so me coded. A guy pisses me off, and I can’t bite my f**king tongue,” she laughed. “I should have, but I couldn’t.”

Where do Alex and AJ stand now?

Almost a year on from filming The Traitors, Alex and AJ are no longer in contact. In fact, he’s the only contestant she doesn’t speak to amongst the otherwise close-knit cast.

“I was really close with AJ. He and I were close from the start, and him then floating my name got to me,” she recalled.

“We had a conversation when we came out. He phoned me, and sort of said, ‘I really didn’t think you were going to murder me; we had a plan’. And I was like, ‘You had a plan. You sort of ambushed me. I didn’t like how you went about that; it felt a bit yucky, didn’t like it’. We left fine, like it wasn’t a negative conversation, but yeah, we don’t speak.”

Although Alex has no chance of winning the show, she believes two people are playing great games and could easily make it to the end: her fellow Traitor Kirby, and her former Bachie co-star Keira Maguire.

“I think Keira is playing a really great game unintentionally. Like, she’s doing really well, but she doesn’t even mean to be,” she remarked. 

“I don’t know. Like, I look at Keira, and I’m like, she’s doing well, but I don’t think she realises that she is, and is she even meaning to? I don’t know.”

There are only four episodes left until the season wraps up, so we’ll just have to wait and see who can survive being murdered and banished to make it to the end.
