Five sixth-grade children die on inflatable trampoline

The accident occurred on the island of Tasmania during the end of the school year at an elementary school. A gust of wind lifted the trampoline several meters from the ground, and the children fell to the ground from a height of up to ten meters. Some of the children were in airtight plastic balloons when the accident happened, but Tasmanian Police Commissioner Darren Hein said most of the victims were in the bouncy castle itself.

According to some sources, the age of children is 11-12 years. Four other children were taken to hospital, three of them in critical condition.

The local education department said it is temporarily banning the use of trampolines by children and will remain in effect pending investigation.
