Russia: The United States refuses to test biological laboratories in Ukraine
The Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stated that the United States supervises several hundred biological laboratories in more than 30 countries and refuses to submit them to international scrutiny.
“Washington categorically refuses to be subject to international verification, since since 2001 it has prevented the development of legally binding protocols for the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) on the creation of an effective mechanism to verify states’ compliance with the Convention,” Nebenzia said. Noting that this fact can only indicate that the United States has something to hide.
According to him, a network of about 30 biological laboratories in Ukraine, operating with funding from the United States, is promoting the pathogenic properties of the deadly.
The Permanent Representative of Russia explained: “The analysis of the material confirms that more than 140 containers with external parasites of bats have been transported from the Kharkov Biological Laboratory abroad. We do not know what will happen to these dangerous biological materials and what will be the consequences of the fact that they will dissolve without any international control and it is possible that this will happen in Europe In any case, there is also a high risk of theft for use for terrorist purposes or for sale on the black market.
Earlier, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu, said that the United Nations is not aware of biological programs in Ukraine that may conflict with the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological Weapons.
