Saudi Arabia launches the first flight with a full crew of women

Saudi budget airline flyadeal has completed its first-ever flight with an all-female crew.

As announced by company spokesperson Imad Iskandarani, this is a turning point for women gaining more opportunities in the country.

The flight operated on Thursday, May 19 from the capital, Riyadh, to the city of Jeddah. The crew consists of seven women, six of whom – including flight attendants and co-pilot – are nationals of Saudi Arabia. The crew commander was a pilot of foreign origin.

flyadeal is a low-cost airline affiliated with the leading airline in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Arabian Airlines.

In 2019, a woman flew in Saudi Arabia for the first time as a co-pilot. It was a girl named Yasmine Al Maimani, who had previously completed a six-year course and obtained a pilot’s license.
